Motley Fool Hidden Gems is a Rip-off Service

Jul 13th, 2009 by Larry Mummert in Service Ripoffs

Recently I paid $199 for a subscription to Motley Fool Hidden Gems.  After several weeks of nothing but losses in their selections, I decided to cancel and requested a refund as promised in their original solicitations.Many of the stocks they recommended rose as investors initially purchased them but then later dropped significantly as they were dumped.  Although Motley Fool still recommended purchasing these same stocks, losses ranged from -10% to -34%.  Instead of agreeing to a refund they advised they would cancel my auto-renewal at the end of the subscription.

Contact person was Molly, Member services at membersupport@fool.com.

To add insult to injury this same annual subscription is now being offered at $79.

Update::

Motley Fool has since responded again and advised that the wrong “template” was used in their initial response.  Rather than a cancellation of the auto-renewal they have now advised that a full refund will be credited to my credit card. They have apologized for the error and offered additional services.

Thank you for any follow-up made by RipoffRecount with Motley Fool.

If possible, please remove my initial posting.

Thank you.
